MJB Engineering Precision Limited
December 2, 2020
Pomegranate Consulting would like to offer a very warm welcome to our new client, MJB Engineering Precision Limited based in Stockport.
MJB Engineering Precision is a family run business dating back to 1987 when Michael Broadbent set the company up with a passion for quality machined parts for companies in various industries such as Pump Manufacturers, Printing and Packaging and Food Processing to name just a few.
With over 30 years-experience operating as a family run company, MJB pride themselves on producing quality components at competitive prices to meet all their customer’s requirements.
The ability to work to tight tolerances and produce precision machined parts efficiently has led to good, long standing relationships with clients that always come back to MJB Engineering Precision Ltd. “Being able to think outside the box and having the right machinery and skilled staff means we can consider any project regardless of the size”
In 2015 Michael’s son Tom, who had been working in the business since he was 15, took over the reins with the same passion as his father but with a new vision for MJB.
Originally Tom studied Sports Science at college but always felt that this wasn’t the right path for him and spoke with his Father about working within MJB. Michael taught Tom about the parts they engineered, how to use all the machines and the best methods of machining
As Tom says, “my father taught me that the most important thing was to learn how to use as many machines as possible and for any young people thinking about a career in engineering, this would also be my advice to them”.
Tom has retained many of the staff that worked for his Father and increased the workforce with his own recruitment. He recognises the importance of having key, trusted people to help with his vision of growing the company to become the go to engineering company in the North West and beyond.
MJB Engineering Precision’s Works Manager, Phil Adshead originally worked for Toms dad and during a brief hiatus with another engineering company, came home one day to a hand-written letter from Tom asking him to come back to MJB.
“I couldn’t believe that Tom had taken the time to write me a letter saying how
much he would love me to come back and work for MJB. How many bosses not only write a letter, but also personally hand deliver it to your house asking you to come and work for them?”
As Tom states “Phil’s experience and level of skill in engineering would have been very appealing to any engineering company so I was really pleased when he agreed to come back to MJB as our Work’s Manager”
MJB Engineering Precision Ltd, under Toms leadership, will soon be moving to new larger premises, acquiring more machinery to increase workload, product range and capacity.
As part of the growth plans MJB will also need to increase the workforce and
Tom is passionate about helping young people start a career in engineering.
“Too many young people these days don’t consider engineering as a career path and this is something I would like to help change. MJB work closely with local colleges to provide a great environment for young people to learn and to thrive”.
Tom is not afraid to adapt the business where he feels there is a need for change w
ith the right partnerships being paramount to his success.
“My previous accountant was nearing retirement and we felt that as the business continues to grow we needed a partnership with an accountant that would grow with us and provide sound business advice as well as just doing the books”.
“After speaking with Simon and Dan from Pomegranate Consulting, we knew their level of expertise and genuine interest in MJB Engineering Precision Ltd would be a key part in our growth plans and long-term success”.
